So the glossary system has been functional for a while, but I haven't taken a close enough look at it until recently. Now that I'm playing around with it, I see that it could use some changing. One of our testers found it hard to read using the notebook background (like the one on the character bio page), so I went ahead and removed that. This is currently what it looks like with an example entry using the generation system we have currently..
I've ushered a proposal to utilize some more of the space. Here is the concept image for that.
What does everyone think? Any suggestions or comments? Note that the arrows are for different pages of glossary entries. I'm quite sure we'll have at least enough for two pages worth of glossary entries.
wwwwwwww!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for translating this gameXD!!!
I prefer the second image.Good job guys.Thank you so much for doing this!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the second image is easier to read, the first looks better, For the sake of all the other people playing, I would go with the second.
ReplyDeleteKeep the width of the second screen but bring it down like it is in the first screen.
ReplyDeleteI like the second screen as well but the font is a bit blurry. Otherwise it looking good.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tuskus, although it would be desirable to keep the system as similar as possible to the original, quality should be prioritized more than anything. Anyway, thank you all, everyone who worked on this!!! I can't wait to play it ^-^
ReplyDeleteSo when do you expect we can get our hands on the translation patch?
ReplyDeleteShould be done soon. I'm busy all this next week, finals, graduation, etc. So that'll give QA time to finalize. Also I'm talking with 07th Expansion and hobibox about selling Higanbana copies online like witch-hunt has done. Lots of stuff happening, but the answer is - soon!
ReplyDeleteConsistency with the original VN is always important,
ReplyDeletebut I still say I'll go with the second.
@Nokcha, @voidavesta: I should probably clarify that the glossary system is what might otherwise be called a "translation notes" system. This is a feature we created for the patch and does not appear in the original Japanese version of the game. Its purpose is to aid non-Japanese speakers by providing explanations for some of the terms which appear in the story.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, "consistency with the original VN" is not an issue. The first screenshot shows what we first designed the glossary system to look like (minus the notebook theme which was distracting), while the second screenshot is what Ronove proposed we change it to.
If I were to give my own two cents, I'd say I prefer the second one. The first one looks a bit strange without the notebook background. :-P
So will this be released within this month or the next?
ReplyDeleteAll signs point towards this month. =)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this. Thank you again guys for doing this.
DeleteJust a question: will the english patch come as a installer or just the files we need to put inside the game folder?
ReplyDeleteDue to some problem with my copy of the game, I couldn't install (no problems with system locale or anything like that, it just didn't come with a setup.exe-esque file or something that could install) and had to copy the folder from the game CD, so I want to be sure.
@arcstrid: We might be releasing an installer at some stage, but I think at first we're just going to release the files. The patch can work by simply placing the patch folder into the game folder, so it doesn't really need an installer.
ReplyDeleteAll the game files are available in the 'fullsrc' folder on the game disc, so you can just copy the files from there. Don't worry, we'll provide full instructions on how to install the patch without an installer when we release it. :-)
as i can see at the second picture, there is a cut at the upper part of the yellow arrow. nothing big but wanted to point that out.
ReplyDeletei´m looking forward to the patch release. ^^
That picture is just a mock-up. Ronove probably just edited the first image and accidentally cut off part of the arrow. Of course, in the actual patch there wouldn't be such an issue. :-)
DeleteAs I see the edit stage is finished too?
ReplyDeleteI guess only QC remains?
