Higanbana no Saku Yoru Ni Translation Project

I just wanted to announce that I intend to try my hand in translating Higanbana no Saku Yoru Ni: The First Night, 07th-Expansion's latest sound novel that was just released this weekend at Comic Market 80 in Japan.

I haven't decided how I'll present my scripts for editing, but if anything they'll be posted on here and if not, there will be a link posted here to wherever I decide to put it up. I started some translations last night, and I'll update with more information when I'm further along in the translation. So far I've just done some rough work on the prologue and beginning portions.

Thanks everyone, and I'm really looking forward to working on this.

  1. Hey there! Are you planning on going this alone or would you be willing to get some help with all those scripts? I've worked as a translator before on Little Busters and I've always wanted to work on something by 07th Expansion. If you're interested just kick me a note! My translator name is ClaymoreSmiley.

  15. Ronove, Im having some problems running the higanbana disc on my laptop ( ibought it from amiami). After the download for the driver or whatever, called instsub.exe starts, it goes for a while then gets to one called fullscrc or something like that and stops. What is wrng and how can I fix it. Also the text is all very strange made up of upside down question marks and stuff. My laptop has a japanese language btw. How can I solve these problems???

    ReplyDelete
  16. @JackOfMurderland: You may need to set your operating system to Japanese locale. Alternatively, it may be possible to use software such as AppLocale so that you do not need to change your locale.

When you run 'launcher.exe', a folder called 'fullsrc' should be created. Run '彼岸花の咲く夜に.exe' within that folder to start the game.

Full instructions will be available when we release the patch, and we're looking into making the process a bit simpler.

  18. @JackOfMurderland: Cool, glad it worked. Yeah, it's quite expensive to import, but there isn't an alternative at the moment, unfortunately. I hope there'll eventually be an easier way, so that more people can enjoy Higanbana.

Thanks, we'll do our best with the patch. Please let us know if you have any further difficulties. :-)

  23. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a digital copy of the Japanese version while I wait for the translation?

    ReplyDelete
  24. @MasterAaron92: If by digital version you mean a download version, unfortunately such a thing is not available. Only a physical version has been released. The only place I know that currently has Higanbana in stock is Mandarake. I expect other retailers will restock later this year.

I know there's some demand for a downloadable version of the game, so maybe that's something we can ask 07th Expansion about.

  25. hey what type of patch will it be? is it going to be an EXE? or is it going to be one of those you just copy and paste into the folder?

    ReplyDelete
  26. @SNinc.: As far as I know, I don't think we'll be releasing an installer version straight away. The process of applying the patch is quite simple and just involves copying a few files around; something that shouldn't be too difficult for the average user.

Perhaps at a later stage we'd release an installer version, but that's not really a priority right now.

  27. Flat out doesn't work for me at all. Tried both OSX and Windows. I put in the translated files, it opens just fine. However, after clicking attend, the only option I have is load, and the background is all black. I click it and the game crashes shortly after. Not sure what to do.

    1. Sounds like you only copied the contents of the HiganbanaEnglish folder into the game folder. You need to copy the folder itself.

In other words, the folder with all the files from the Japanese version of the game should contain another folder with all the patch files in it.

  28. Hello Ronove I saw automode wasn't included in the game so I added it in my game.
If you're interested It's quite easy to do, do you see the line ;windowback ? add the line automode between this one and automode_time.

And of course thanks for the translatioj ;)

    1. Newer versions of ONScripter-EN do not require the "automode" line in the game script, which is why we didn't add it (it wasn't necessary). The Mac version I put together definitely supports automode, and as far as I know, the Windows version should support it too. I'll take another look at it, though.

  29. Just wondering but do you guys have the opening vid subbed and available for download?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hmmm… we did make a subbed OP, but it looks like that wasn't included in the patch. I don't even have a copy of it… I'll ask Ronove about it.

      Delete
    2. Okay, we've just made the subbed OP available to download. If you want, you can patch it into the game, or just watch it separately. :-)
